Rajesh Babu has more than 11 years of chromatography experience and is an expert in practical HPLC/UHPLC/LC-MS/GC-MS method development and troubleshooting. Before joining Phenomenex, Dr. Rajesh worked as a Faculty member at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Deemed University. He was instrumental in establishing a state-of-the-art mass-spec core facility consisting of GC, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, and HRMS systems. His research work was in the area of clinical metabolomics.
Margarucci Luigi, PhD
Luigi, PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, has been working with Phenomenex since 2015 and currently holds the position of Technical Manager. He gained experience in the field of chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry working as a researcher/assistant at the University of Salerno and collaborating with important reference centres for chromatography and mass spectrometry, in Italy and Europe (University of Utrecht - NL). To date, he is the author of 27 scientific publications. In 2020, he became responsible for chromatography training for our customers, and from 2021 he took on the role of Technical Manager for Italy.
Mackenzie Freige
Mackenzie is an Application Scientist at PhenoLogix, and is based in Torrance, CA. She has undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and in Life Sciences. She joined Phenomenex in 2021, and brings extensive experience in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. In her free time she practices yoga and enjoys reading.
James Turner
After graduating from UMIST with a degree in Chemistry I then studied for an MSC in Instrumentation and Analytical Science. I then worked with another HPLC column manufacturer before joining Phenomenex in 1996. With more than 25 years of experience at Phenomenex, I have been responsible for providing specialist technical support to customers across Europe with method development assistance, troubleshooting advice and chromatographic solutions to various problems.
Genevieve Hodson
Genevieve graduated from the University of Texas with a BS in Chemistry located in her home town of Austin Texas. She spent 2 years of her undergraduate performing research in an Organic Chemistry Lab synthesizing intermediates. Out of school she spent 4 years as an Analytical Chemist in the QC and R&D Department of Cerilliant (a Sigma Millipore Company). There she worked with many analytical instruments but became an expert at LC by performing purity analysis, customer specific methods, validations, qc testing and stability studies on a wide range of small molecules including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, explosives and illegal substances. From there she moved to Los Angeles California where she worked at Johnson and Johnson and then a small dietary supplement company. After Genevieve spent a year living abroad in Israel raising her first son, she moved back to LA where she got hired as a Technical Specialist at Phenomenex. At Phenomenex she enjoys continuing to learn about chromatography every day through helping customer with all their chromatography needs
Helen Whitby, PhD
Dr. Helen Whitby is the senior product manager for biopharma at Phenomenex. Helen has been with Phenomenex since 2007, starting in the UK sales team as a bulk and prep specialist before joining the technical team in 2016. Helen spent 6 years as a biopharma specialist in the technical team supporting all our biopharma products globally before moving to product management in 2022. Helen has a PhD from the University of Manchester working on analogues of Shikimic acid to treat malaria. Prior to joining Phenomenex, Helen spent a year as a Post-doctoral researcher at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where she studied electron-deficient divalent reactive intermediates, specifically nitrenium ions for the development of antiviral agents to treat Ebola.

Eduardo Morales
Eduardo has worked at Weck Laboratories for over 20 years. During this time, he has worked exclusively in the organic lab where he has been involved in all aspects of the operation. He now serves as a supervisor of organic chemistry where he is responsible for the development of new analytical methods, optimization of extraction techniques, mostly for emergent contaminants, and the development and implementation of protocols throughout the lab. Mr. Morales holds a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from California State University Los Angeles
Philip Leong
Philip Leong has worked in the biotechnology industry for over 16 years with Life Science and Clinical Diagnostics background. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from UC San Diego and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from California State University, Fullerton. He has held roles in Technical Support both in Life Science and Diagnostics, as well as roles in Product Management and Global Marketing. He joined Phenomenex in July of 2021 and is the Global Product Manager for SPE Sample Preparation. Outside of work, Philip enjoys traveling, running in long distance races, and exploring different cuisines from around the world.
Kevin Zhao
Kevin Zhao is the Senior Technical Specialist with Phenomenex and has 5 years of experience in biochemistry research; 4 years of Protein/Cancer research with CSULA-City of Hope Cancer Collaborative and over 9 years in Phenomenex. Mr. Zhao is a member of a global Technical Support Team which includes providing problem-solving, troubleshooting, and applications assistance for customers worldwide in the fields of chromatography (liquid and gas) and sample preparation, and also handling Industries supported include – pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical, clinical research and clinical toxicology, food safety, environmental, fuels and specialty chemicals. Mr. Zhao received his B.S. in Biology at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. earned his M.S. in Biochemistry at California State University, Los Angeles, and also earned a MBA at the University of the Incarnate Word.
Sergio Guazzotti. PhD
Sergio Guazzotti is the Business Development Manager for Micro and Nano LC for Phenomenex in Europe. Prior to this role, Sergio worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific for 11 years in the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division, covering areas of HPLC, LC-MS, GC/ GC-MS, IC, and IC-MS. Sergio obtained his Master and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California. Earlier in his career Sergio was faculty at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, CA and held several positions at Nanostream Inc. in Pasadena, CA.
Shahana W. Huq
Shahana W. Huq is a Senior Application Scientist focusing on Clinical Research and Sample Preparation, within the PhenoLogix applications lab at Phenomenex. She holds a MS in Biochemistry from California State University, Los Angeles. Her work involves analytical method development, optimization and troubleshooting. She has experience in R&D product and application development as well as extensive hands on experience in sample preparation and LC-MS/MS. She works closely with customers in the clinical research industry, providing technical support and consultation as well as webinars and onsite seminars. She has been working for Phenomenex since the year 2000.
Jeffery Moran, PhD
Jeffery Moran, Ph.D. is an analytical toxicologist with over 25 years of experience in analytical chemistry, metabolomics, and human biomarkers. Currently, Dr. Moran is the CEO of PinPoint Testing, LLC and faculty in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The Mission of PinPoint Testing, LLC is to “Make Analytical Toxicology Easy” through innovative ToxBox® test kits and solutions. Dr. Moran’s career spans many facets that include medicine, public health, environmental, food, and industrial hygiene. His research primarily focuses on the detection and mechanisms of environmental toxicants and xenobiotics. His recent work includes the detection and characterization of synthetic cannabinoids (SCBs), which emerged as a major drug of abuse. Dr. Moran’s passion is creating sustainable solutions for analytical testing laboratories.

Zachary Woodward
Zachary Woodward is a Senior Technical Specialist with Phenomenex, Inc, assisting laboratories with method development in the bio-pharma, environmental, and food industries. Zachary spent his formative years developing HPLC and GC methods with a pharmaceutical lab in Albany, NY, after which he developed HPLC and SPE methods in the clinical setting here in Southern California. Zachary received his B.Sci. in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary, and was awarded his Master’s in Chemistry at San Diego State University.
Ramkumar Dhandapani, PhD
Dr. Dhandapani has been in the chromatography industry for over 20 years with hands-on and troubleshooting experience. He has earnt a Masters and PhD degree in Analytical chemistry from Seton Hall University with specialization in Microextractions, Multidimentional Chromatography and Tandem Mass Specs techniques. He has developed and validated several regulatory compliant methods in Pharmaceutical, Food, Fuels and Environmental industry as well as incorporated method improvement and troubleshooting across a range of separation techniques. Dr. Dhandapani joined Phenomenex in August of 2014 and he serves as a Senior Product Manager at Phenomenex. In addition to managing the product line, Dr. Dhandapani presents on innovations in chromatography at various chromatography conference.
Ivan Lebedev
Ivan has an extensive and diverse background in varying biologics-focused applications including the analytics of oligonucleotides, monoclonal antibodies, and conventional proteins. He has a PhD in Biochemistry and Structural Biology with a former background in Biochemical Engineering – currently software focused. He’s lived all over both coasts and is always happy to hop on a plane to visit one or the other.
Dr. Heiko Behr
Dr. Heiko Behr is currently European Pharmaceutical Senior Business Development Manager at Phenomenex. He has over 30 years of experience in Chromatography.His primary responsibilities are consulting with Pharmaceutical Scientists to determine the best implementation of new HPLC technologies. He is also giving educational seminars about Method Development, Troubleshooting, System Optimizations etc.. In addition he is responsible for Ph. Eur. Projects at Phenomenex globally. Prior to joining Phenomenex Dr. Behr graduated with a Diplom in Chemistry at University of Kassel and received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry at Technical University of Munich under the advisement of Professor Harun Parlar, with the main focus being Chromatography Theory and Techniques. From 1993 to 1998 he was involved in teaching chromatography techniques to students at the University of Kassel in his function as a scientific assistant of the department Analytical Chemistry. Dr. Behr joined Phenomenex as a Technical Consultant in 1999. Since then he has also been the Senior Product Specialist for HPLC columns in Germany/Austria and Sales & Business Development Manager for European Distributors.
Olivier Drouet
Graduated of a master’s degree of « analytical & Organic Chemistry” in 2006, Olivier has gained over 15 years of experience, building up a strong EUR customer networking and market knowledge in Pharma / BioPharma & Food, doted of deep technical and sales skills in analytical and preparative & Process chromatography with expertise more precisely in the field of downstream in process development, Flash chromatography, Preparative Supercritical Fluid & liquid Chromatography.
At Phenomenex, Olivier is currently the European Business Development Manager for Purification Technologies. Previously he worked for Interchim where he was the Technical and Sales Manager of all activities for chromatography based in Paris during the creation their Flash / Preparative Chromatography facility. John Gebler
John Gebler is currently the Director of Strategic Biopharma Business Development for Phenomenex. He has been with Phenomenex since 2021 working with Phenomenex and Danaher leadership to create and manage a biopharma separations and sample prep consumables growth vision. John also manages the execution of biopharma roadmap with Phenomenex innovation, marketing, and sales partners. He has his Ph.D. from the University of Utah studying mechanistic aspects of prenyl transferases. In John's spare time, he enjoys time with family, hiking, biking, camping, and traveling.
Swetha Kotikalapudi
Technical Manager, Phenomenex Swetha Kotikalapudi has over 16 years of chromatography experience and is an expert in practical HPLC/UHPLC/LC-MS/GC-MS method development and troubleshooting. Prior to joining Phenomenex, Swetha worked as a Senior Research Associate with DuPont, Hyderabad, where she led efforts in establishing state-of-the-art facility corporate Centre of Analytical Sciences and was involved with multiple HPLC, LC-MS, and GC method development for small molecules, polymers and polysaccharides. Swetha joined Phenomenex in 2018 as the Technical Manager for India and is a member of the global technical team at Phenomenex, USA. In her current role, Swetha provides technical, application development and troubleshooting support to chromatographers worldwide. Swetha has earned a master’s degree in Analytical chemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad and brings with her vast experience in analytical method development, validations and structural elucidations using NMR for various small molecules.
Grace Guo
Senior Technical Specialist, Phenomenex USA Grace graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a Master’s degree in Material Science and Engineering in 2014. In her graduate study, she developed a low-voltage organic phototransistor with an organic small molecule. After her graduation she moved from the east coast to west coast because she loves the all year long sunshine in South California. She spent 3 years in a start-up company as Device Scientist doing single walled carbon nanotube separation and making thin film transistor with them. Most of her experience with Flash system are gained from there. In 2017, she joined Phenomenex as a Technical Specialist supporting globally, especially the Asia-Pacific area. Bilingual in Chinese and English makes it easy for her to communicate with customers in both US and China. At Phenomenex she has more opportunity to have hands-on experience in HPLC, GC and SPE. Discussing the crazy troubleshooting cases with other technical members improves her chromatographic skills every day!
Namrata Saxena
Namrata is the Technical Manager for the Asia-Pacific region in Phenomenex and is based in Sydney, Australia. As a member of the global technical team, she is responsible for assisting external customers as well as internal marketing and sales teams of Phenomenex for multifarious technical queries. She specifically support company’s bio-products portfolio through external and internal seminars/webinars, trainings and also contribute in biologics related technical content creation.
Before joining Phenomenex she had worked as a Product Specialist and spent several years in stationary phase chemistry, column manufacturing and method development groups in a German company Bischoff Chromatography GmbH.
Namrata has a post graduate degree with specialization in Analytical Chemistry. Her competence and focus lies in biotherapeutics characterization through liquid chromatography, antibodies and oligonucleotide chemistry, gene therapy and new bio-therapeutic modalities.
Philip Bassignani
Philip Bassignani is the Director of Technical Operations with Alpha Analytical and he has over 25 years of environmental analytical and method development experience, working on a wide range of projects. Philip serves as the laboratory’s emerging contaminants and HRMS technical specialist, with a strong emphasis on PFAS extraction and analytical method development.
Agustin Pierri, Ph.D., Technical Director at Weck Laboratories
Dr. Agustin Pierri obtained his BS in Chemistry from the University of Southern California and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California Santa Barbara. He has been an analyst in different sections of the laboratory and since 2007 has worked in the LC-MS/MS department developing all analytical methods by that technique. Prior to becoming Technical Director in July of 2016, he has been working as Methods Development Manager for all departments of the Laboratory.
William A. Adams, Ph.D., Chemist U.S. EPA, Office Ground Water and Drinking Water
Dr. Adams is a Chemist with the U.S. EPA, Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, Technical Support Branch (TSB) in Cincinnati, OH, where he serves as the TSB project officer for EPA drinking water method development, manages the EPA Drinking Water Alternate Test Procedure (ATP) Program, and advises the UCMR program as a technical and analytical method resource. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The University of Alabama.

Zandra is an Applications Scientist at PhenoLogix. She joined Phenomenex in June of 2021 and brings over 10 years of experience in analytical chemistry.
Roberto Romero-González
Roberto Romero-González is a full time Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Almería (Spain). His research focusses primarily on the determination of contaminants, organic residues, toxic substances, and metabolites in food and environmental matrices using generic methods based on QuEChERS or 'dilute and shoot' extraction approaches combined with chromatographic techniques coupled with low and high resolution mass spectrometry. In addition, metabolomics approaches are also applied, paying particular attention to quality assessment for food authenticity. Up to know he has been co-author of more than 190 research papers published in international journals, and he has supervised 10 Ph.D. Thesis. He was featured on the World’s Top 2% Scientists List according to a Stanford University study.
Dr. Javier Arrebola
Dr. Javier Arrebola is Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Almería (Spain) and has 27 years-experience teaching and researching in this field. He is specialized in the use of chromatographic techniques coupled to low- and high-resolution mass spectrometry and their application to the analysis of contaminants in food, biological and environmental samples. He has published over 80 scientific papers in prestigious international journals, and various book chapters and has been invited as guest editor and as speaker for oral presentations to several international congresses. He also participated as researcher in around 40 researching projects with public institutions and/or private companies. He has supervised 6 Ph.D. Thesis and several Master and Degree Thesis. He is also co-founder of a spin-off company created in 2003 and that currently has 10 laboratories in Spain and Portugal with over 300 workers
Zara Jalali
Zara did her MSc. in chemical engineering/separation sciences during which she organized many research conferences, and she is passionate about science and technology. She has been working in the field of analytical chemistry for over 15 years, as a toxicologist, forensic scientist, application scientist and lab director. She has extensive experience in the clinical, environmental, forensic toxicology and cannabis industries and her content portfolio includes R& D, Analytical method development & optimization, sample preparation techniques, data analysis, validation, designing laboratory workflow and automation using chromatography, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry techniques. Zara is an expert using variety of analytical instruments such as GC, GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, HPLC, HPLC/MS/MS and ICP/MS. Zara joined Phenomenex in 2020, mainly focusing on environmental, food and cannabis applications. She has been helping the costumers and the team with finding new solutions for applied market while trying to improve analytical solutions for this dynamic market.
Dr. Philip (Phil) J. Koerner
Dr. Philip (Phil) J. Koerner is the Global Pharmaceutical Market Development Manager with Phenomenex, a Danaher Company, located in Torrance, California, USA. He is accountable for developing, communicating, and leading strategic initiatives and integrated marketing programs globally to significantly increase Phenomenex’s presence in the pharmaceutical market.
Dr. Koerner has more than 35 years of experience in HPLC, GC, and sample preparation techniques; 11 years as a Senior Chemist with DuPont and 24 years with Phenomenex. In his previous role as Senior Technical Manager at Phenomenex, Dr. Koerner traveled extensively around the world sharing his expertise and experience with customers in the form of technical seminars, hands-on training, and technical assistance covering various topics in HPLC, GC, and sample preparation. He has also been an instructor for USP courses on General Chapters <467> (Residual Solvents) and <621> (Chromatography).
Dr. Koerner received his B.S. in Chemistry at the University of California, Irvine, earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Illinois, and an MBA at the University of Delaware.
Michael D McGinley
Michael McGinley is the director of Phenomenex’s global application laboratories in charge of generating scientific content supporting the company’s product portfolios in the clinical, food, environmental, and biopharmaceutical industries. Over his 20 years at Phenomenex, Michael has served in various product development, marketing, and technical management roles. He managed the development and commercialization of numerous products including its award-winning Gemini and Clarity product lines. Before Phenomenex, Michael was at Amgen where he held several positions over a dozen year span, including Associate Scientist, Project Manager, and Laboratory Head. Michael received his degree in Biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley and was one of the early proteomics innovators where he helped establish the pioneering program at Amgen. Michael is a recognized chromatography expert and long-serving member of the editorial advisory board of LC/GC magazine. His fields of expertise include HPLC method development, proteomics, oligonucleotide chemistry, and protein characterization with over a hundred publications in the respective fields.
Zeshan Aqeel
Zeshan Aqeel is part of the Technical Support team at Phenomenex providing problem solving, troubleshooting, and applications support to customers around the world. In this capacity, Zeshan has also assisted in new Phenomenex staff with hands‐on Lab Training and developed and presented many technical seminars as well as demonstrations globally.
Mr. Zeshan has over 15 years of chromatography experience and is an expert in practical HPLC method development. After graduating from California State University Northridge with a degree in Biochemistry, he worked at Amgen and
Baxter Bioscience as an analytical chemist optimizing LC and LC/MS methods.
Joining Phenomenex in 2010 as part of PhenoLogix HPLC/SPE method development team, Zeshan has had a hand in many of the new marketing LC and SPE methods for flagship products such as Kinetex, Strata, Luna Omega and BioZen SEC. Lucia Geis Asteggiante
Lucia is a Senior Technical Specialist that has recently joined Phenomenex’s Global Technical Team. She has a broad experience in the field of Analytical Chemistry with a particular focus on LC chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. Lucia comes from a strong academic and regulatory background with experiences ranging from method development and analysis of small molecules to large protein complexes. She gained her Ph.D. at the University of Maryland - College Park, USA and did her post-doctoral work at the University of Oxford, UK. During her time as a researcher, she has authored/co-authored 23 scientific publications and 2 book chapters.
Mackenzie Freige
Mackenzie is an Application Scientist at PhenoLogix, and is based in Torrance, CA. She has undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and in Life Sciences. She joined Phenomenex in 2021, and brings extensive experience in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. In her free time she practices yoga and enjoys reading.
Susan Genualdi
Susan Genualdi is currently a Research Chemist in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition at the Food and Drug Administration. Her research over the last 12 years has focused on developing methods for the analysis of direct and indirect food additives in food and food packaging and for the last 6 years has focused on PFAS analysis in foods. Prior to her work at the FDA, she received her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at Oregon State University and was a postdoctoral fellow at Environment Canada.
Richard F. Jack
Richard F. Jack, Ph.D. Richard is the Global Market Development manager for the environmental and food markets at Phenomenex corporation. He has over 18 yrs. experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry for the environmental, semiconductor, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Richard is a former EPA Scientific Advisor for the EPA’s panel on Hydraulic Fracturing, a coauthor for EPA 557 and 557.1 along with ASTM D8001 and updates to D4327 and D6919 methods. He is currently the Second Vice Chairman for the ASTM D19 subcommittee on water analysis. Richard received his Ph.D. in biochemistry and anaerobic microbiology from Virginia Tech University and Master’s in ecology from the University of Tennessee.
Shilin Lok Yee Cheung
Dr. Cheung received her BS (2006) and Ph.D. (2012) in Bioanalytical Chemistry from the University of Toronto. She has developed, qualified, and validated innovative analytical methods in CE based microfluidics, automated low volume UV-vis spec., and UHPLC assays. Her methods have been applied to manufacturing process developments, formulation and stability and DS/DP characterization and specification testing. At the Phenomenex Innovation Campus she is focused on developing fit for purpose analytical methods to help advance developments in gene therapeutics.
Stephanie J. Marin, Ph.D. Biography
Stephanie J. Marin is the Clinical and Forensics Global Market Development Manager at Phenomenex. She received her Ph.D. in chemistry from Arizona State University, and has expertise in sample preparation, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. She has over 10 years of experience developing and validating clinical methods from her tenure at the ARUP Institute for Clinical and Experimental Pathology. Dr Marin has worked in marketing, product development, and applications development, in addition to customer facing roles in customer and technical support and service and customer education and training. She has also held positions at Hamilton Company, Selerity Technologies and Biotage, and in analytical services for specialty chemicals and polymers at Rohm and Haas (now Dow). She was also a supervisor at an EPA certified laboratory. She is the author of over 30 peer reviewed publications and book chapters and over 100 abstracts presented at national and international meetings.
